On October 6, 2021, Cameroon made a significant step in its technological development with the official inauguration of the DTA 001, the first electric vehicle entirely designed and manufactured in the country.
This historic event took place at the Innotech Lab center in Yaoundé, in the presence of five members of the Cameroonian government.
The DTA 001 is the result of the hard work of three young Cameroonian entrepreneurs: Thierry Kamnang, Nestor Mbogni, and Mbang Sama. These talented engineers founded the Digital Transformation Alliance (DTA), a company aimed at promoting technological innovation in Cameroon. The creation of this electric vehicle represents a major breakthrough for the country, showcasing the potential and expertise of Cameroonians in the field of advanced technologies.
A catalyst for structural economic transformation
Cameroonian authorities have praised the advent of the DTA 001, describing it as a “decisive turning point” for the country. The Minister of SMEs, Social Economy, and Handicrafts, Achille Bassilekin III, stated that this initiative “demonstrates the technological capabilities of our country, which must decisively embark on a structural transformation of its economy.”
Innotech Lab: An incubator for innovation
The DTA 001 was unveiled during the first day of technological innovation organized by Innotech Lab. This incubation and innovation center aims to support young Cameroonian entrepreneurs in the development of their innovative projects. Innotech Lab provides project holders with a conducive environment for research, development, and commercialization of their products and services.
In the eyes of #Puissance237, the success of the DTA 001 is an encouraging sign for the future of innovation in Cameroon. It demonstrates that the country has a pool of talented individuals capable of competing with the best in the world.
